Grounded in Empathy, Guided by Aloha

My name is Alissa (she/her/hers). I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor committed to providing affirming, culturally responsive, and strengths-based care for individuals, adolescents, and families. I believe in co-creating a space where clients feel seen, respected, and empowered—where we can unpack shame, embrace complexity, and cultivate self-acceptance.

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from National University. I hold certifications in LGBTQ-Affirmative Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through the Yale LGBTQ Mental Health Initiative and in Integrating Mindfulness into Professional Service through The Whole Person Center.

My experience includes supporting clients facing a range of challenges including anxiety, depression, ADHD, gender dysphoria, and the lasting impacts of trauma—such as sexual trauma, religious trauma, relational trauma, and adverse childhood experiences. I’ve worked with adolescents, individuals, and families in both community and private practice settings.

I bring warmth, empathy, and curiosity to my work and approach each therapeutic relationship with cultural humility and a deep respect for the stories clients carry. My philosophy is rooted in the spirit of aloha—a value of connection, compassion, and authenticity that guides both my life and my work.
